Job opening - Full-time legislative policy coordinator The American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) is a national education and advocacy organization, whose mission is to bring the Palestinian narrative into the mainstream national discourse.  AMP currently is seeking a legislative policy coordinator who would join the Washington DC office as part of a team seeking to further relationships with elected officials, policymakers and national media.  The Legislative Policy Coordinator would identify and follow key pieces of legislation and policy pertaining to the Middle East, with a special emphasis on Palestine and Israel, in consultation with AMP’s Director of Policy.           Responsibilities Establish relationships with pertinent staffers and elected officials in Congress. Identify and follow key legislation pertaining to Palestine, Israel, and US aid to the region. Attend and report on Congressional briefings, hearings, and mark-ups when applicable. Create and implement strategies to educate lawmakers and policymakers about the Palestinian narrative. Create campaigns to mobilize the grassroots movement on specific pieces of legislation. Work in coalition with other organizations’ policy personnel in order to help build and strengthen momentum on key legislation. Organize congressional briefings when applicable. Qualifications This is a full-time, entry-level position. Bachelor’s degree in public policy, international affairs, Middle East studies or political science or related area required. Prior experience on The Hill or in nonprofit advocacy in either a state or federal level is a strong plus. Internships in this area do qualify. Good written and oral communications skills strongly required. Must possess a good understanding of how US government works. Must possess a good understanding of the Middle East, specifically Palestine and Israel.
